I DONT want to eat today

Feeding a 21 month old with Diabetes can be difficult sometimes. I count the food to the exact carb count. Weighing measuring and counting everything down to the last 2 carb cracker. Almost halfway E spits out his food and starts laughing. This is so not funny to me!! Ellis thinks it is funny also, which makes E spit out more food. I have to get creative and start pulling out toys to take his mind off spitting out the precious food I counted. Lets hope this doesn't last long. We get his pump on April 19!!! This should make eating a little easier.

  1. Oh how I remember those days! Zane is 3 now and sometimes will still not finish the food I counted on him eating.

Good luck starting the pump! Which one are you guys going with?

  2. Whoa, you brought back some bad memories! I remember a few times crying because J would spit out his food. This was 12 years ago...when I had to give him his dinner insulin 2 hours before dinner. :(

The pump will help! The pump will make all the difference! I'm so happy for you, for a little guy his age, the pump is a miracle!

  4. Hi Crystall,

I just found your blog tonight and I wanted to let you know that I can relate to what you are going through with your little one. I have two daughters, ages 2 and 4 years old who both have type 1 diabetes.

My 2 year old was diagnosed when she was 18 months old and somedays mealtimes were the most dreaded time of the day for me with her, I never knew how much of the food that I so carefully weighed and counted was going to end up in her mouth or on the floor! Some days are still a struggle but it does get better, hang in there :)

  5. Yes Connie I am hoping as he grows he will understand that he needs to eat. I thinking when he gets older I will have other issues with Food..... at least now he is not telling me what he wants to eat.
